Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov have had arguably the most heated rivalry in the sport. UFC 229 was the biggest card the UFC had ever put on because the duo’s backstory leading up to the fight created a compelling narrative. The event broke multiple records and is to date the best-selling PPV card for the promotion.
However, despite the staggering numbers the card did and the brilliant fights, the incidents that occurred after the fight will always mar the memory of the card. Khabib jumped from the cage and attacked McGregor’s camp. Despite the fight being done with, the rivalry between the two men and camps is still rife to this day.

Conor McGregor gives his thoughts on Khabib Nurmagomedov as a fighter
On Sunday, ‘The Notorious’ took time out of his day to answer his fans’ questions on Twitter. One such fan asked Conor what he honestly thought of Khabib as a fighter. McGregor replied, “A phenomenal grappler fighter. The current best in the sport with it. I’ve the answer however and they know it. Congrats on the plumbing apprenticeship and thank you for the well wishes! Same to you and yours.”

Leading into the fight, the trash talk between the two men crossed several lines. Family, religion, politics were all bought in. White-labeled the pre-fight press conference as one of the darkest he had ever seen.
Ever since the fight, the animosity between the two men has increased further. Conor has taken to Twitter multiple times to belittle ‘The Eagle’ which has been met with a fitting reply by either Khabib himself or his manager Ali Abdelaziz.
The Irish superstar has always been extremely critical of ‘The Eagle’ and his fight style. ‘The Notorious’ believes the grappling dominant fight style is not ‘real fighting’. Therefore, it was refreshing to see a sign of respect for his adversary.

A potential rematch between the two that ‘The Notorious’ speaks of seemed unlikely when Khabib announced his retirement at UFC 254. However, Dana White has confirmed that Khabib is reconsidering his announcement and might return to make it 30-0. If he were to return a rematch with Conor McGregor might be on the cards.
Do you think we get to see a re-match between the two men at some point?
