Jan Blachowicz is a force to be reckoned with in the UFC’s 205 pound division. The Polish superstar has proven his mettle, as he has overcome adversity to rise to the top and claim the divisional title. He even defended it and handed Israel Adesanya his maiden MMA defeat.

Unfortunately, he couldn’t go on a run as he lost his title to Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC 267. Blachowicz submitted to the Brazilian fighter in the second round of the match when Texeira put him in a rear-naked choke.

A month after the defeat, Blachowicz, who appeared on The MMA Hour, shed some light on that defeat on Fight Island. He said, “Everything goes wrong, you know. I shouldn’t fight that night, but what can I do. I can just back to the training, back to the gym, train harder. And then try to get the belt back, you know. And that’s it. I am not gonna be sad, I am not gonna be thinking about the fight because I don’t want to waste my life about something like this. I think about the fight, yeah. Why it goes wrong. I don’t waste time for to be sad and you know I will not hide under the bed and cry.”
What’s ahead for Jan Blachowicz in the UFC?
The good news is that despite his comments saying he shouldn’t have fought, ‘The Polish Power’ revealed that he was not injured. In response to Helwani’s question, he said, “No, I wasn’t hurt. It was just bad day for me, you know, I will lose. I think I will lose with anybody that night. I don’t want to explain myself, it just wasn’t my night.”
Jan Blachowicz (28-9) is still the top-ranked fighter at 205. However, given the manner of his defeat, an immediate rematch is off. The former champion also knows that he needs at least two more wins to challenge for the belt. He admitted the same at the UFC 267 post-event press conference.

While Blachowicz still sits atop the rankings, Teixeira has called out Jiri Prochazka for his next fight. Hence, the Pole may have to return against #4 Aleksandar Rakic or #5 Anthony Smith.
