Luke Rockhold was set to make his return to the UFC against Sean Strickland at UFC 268 at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, Rockhold injured his back and was forced to withdraw from his bout against Strickland just a few weeks out from the fight.

Belal Muhammad was one of the first fighters to offer his services to step in and replace Rockhold. The welterweight fighter tweeted, “If they need someone for Strickland I’m down I hate that piece of trash @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 @seanshelby.”

At this point in time, it is not known if the UFC will try to find a short-notice replacement for Strickland or reschedule a fight with Rockhold once he is healed.

Sean Strickland hits back at Belal Muhammad

Sean Strickland took to Instagram to share his thoughts on being called out by Muhammad. He said, “Belal Muhammad, I heard you’re running your f***ing mouth. Last time you were in Vegas, I tried to spar you cause I knew you were a little f***ing b**ch. And I wanted to hurt you and it was a good excuse to do it. But now, with you running your mouth, next time I see you, I could just f***ing backhand you.”

‘Tarzan’ continued, “On a more serious note, I wanted Luke Rockhold because his name carries weight. He was an ex-champion. If you beat Luke Rockhold, it artificially bumps you into like the two, three spot where you beat the next guy and you get a title shot…. We’re all in this to fight for the belt right? There is a card in California in January…. I would like the fight to carry weight. If I fight, I want the fight to mean something to potentially put me in line for a title shot.”

At this point in time, no one else has offered to step in and take a fight against Strickland. It is unlikely that the UFC matches up Muhammad against Strickland given Muhammad has never competed at middleweight before.

Do you think Strickland will get an opponent for UFC 268? Or will his fight against Rockhold be rescheduled for a later date? Let us know in the comments below!
