The former dual weight champion Henry Cejudo has set the record straight. If he ever returns to the octagon, it’s only going to be for the strap.
In reply to a recent clash with former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, Cejudo put the promotion on notice on Twitter.
Needless to say, Cejudo is looking at a title shot at the featherweight division. Cejudo has called out Alexander Volkanovski on multiple occasions.
Should Cejudo get an opportunity to fight for the title and triumph over the Australian fighter, he will become the first fighter to hold championship belts across 3 divisions.
Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo have had their fair share of back and forth on social media recently. Both the fighters have targeted each other. It is an interesting match-up and one that is bound to get the attention of fight fans around the world.
Henry Cejudo announced his retirement from the sport after defeating Dominick Cruz in the co-main event of UFC 249 early this year. In the process, he became the first fighter to hand a stoppage loss to the Bantamweight great.
However, Cejudo has hinted at returning to the UFC Octagon on numerous occasions.
Henry Cejudo vs Alexander Volkanovski is a match of a lifetime. Additionally, the moniker that has always announced him as ‘Triple C‘, will have his fourth gold along with the Olympic gold medal.
As things stand today, Cejudo is retired and Petr Yan stands as the new bantamweight champion of the world. However, if Cody Garbrandt can reclaim his bantamweight gold, things could get interesting. While fight fans believe that Cejudo will return, it seems unlikely for the time being.
