Luis Palomino could not have asked for a better start to his career with BKFC than he has had. The Miami native is 4-0 with the promotion and recently put on a clinic against Tyler Goodjohn the past Saturday. He won the fight via unanimous decision and then called out a fighter he beat eleven years ago via split decision in Jorge Masvidal.

In the post-fight interview, Palomino said, “So check this out. If you want your rematch, remember I beat you in (2010) eight pounds heavy. If you want your rematch — I know you’re on the top of the UFC, I know — but, I’ve seen Dave Feldman corner some people in a boxing match. So I’ll represent BKFC and you can represent the UFC and I’ll give you the rematch in the boxing ring with the respect and with Dave Feldman’s permission.”

Is Jorge Masvidal vs Luis Palomino a possibility?
Palomino, the current lightweight champion, has looked very sharp in all of his fights with the promotion. ‘Baboon’ is a veteran in mixed martial arts and has 43 fights under his name with a 26-17 record. During his career as a mixed martial artist, he fought at featherweight, lightweight, and even welterweight.
Palomino faced Masvidal at G-Force Fights: Bad Blood 3 in January 2010 and won the fight via split decision. After his most recent title defense, he called out ‘Gamebred’ for a bare-knuckle fight, offering to give him a rematch in the boxing ring.

‘Gamebred’ recently embarked on his journey as a promoter as he kicked off his first card under Gamebred Fighting Championships- a bare-knuckle fighting promotion. However, Masvidal is still under contract with the UFC and plans on making a return to the octagon later this year. Hence, a fight with Palomino would be very difficult to make given it would have to be approved by the UFC and that is very unlikely.

Furthermore, Masvidal is one of the biggest stars in the UFC at the moment and also one of the highest-paid fighters. Taking on a 40-year-old Palomino would not make a lot of sense for ‘Gamebred’ right now given the quality of opposition available to him in the UFC.
