Conor McGregor has heard former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos’ request. Soon after his emphatic win over Paul Felder on his lightweight return, RDA called out the UFC’s first ‘Champ-Champ’.
‘The Notorious’ has been quite active on social media lately. Needless to say, he was quick to accept the offer for the fight that was scrapped almost half a decade ago.

UFC fans expected Conor McGregor and Rafael dos Anjos to face each other back in 2016. Featherweight champion McGregor was set to take on the then lightweight champion Dos Anjos in his pursuit to hold two championship belts. However, the bout was called off after RDA suffered an injury.
McGregor would later move to the welterweight division to take on Nate Diaz. Meanwhile, ‘RDA’ dropped the lightweight strap to Eddie Alvarez in a first-round TKO loss.

In the post-fight press conference, Dos Anjos said, “If Khabib is really retired it will leave the division, wide open. If you look at the contenders, I think that only me and Conor. We are the only real champions on that division. Everybody else is interim champions. So I think if the division is open, me and Conor is the fight to make.”
It is an exciting match-up and one that will certainly add more to the legacy of both the lightweight elites.

Conor McGregor vs Rafael dos Anjos is one for the ages
Rafael dos Anjos looked absolutely incredible in his lightweight return against a seasoned veteran in the form of Paul Felder. He dominated ‘The Irish Dragon’ for the better part of the entire fight and looked rejuvenated after a lackluster run in the welterweight division.

‘RDA’ has stated that he is far from done. Needless to say, the incredible performance against Felder is a testimony of Rafael dos Anjos‘ credibility in the lightweight division.
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor will take on Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 next year. Should McGregor get past Poirier, and ‘RDA’ get another win to his name, it won’t be surprising to see both the former champions share the Octagon in the near future. Would you be interested in seeing this fight?
