It has been over a month since Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor faced off against each other in an epic trilogy. However, since then, the rivalry between the two men has only intensified. In a recent ESPN+Q&A Session with Laura Sanko, Poirier shared his thoughts on his back and forth with Conor McGregor. He said, “It doesn’t really bother me – I don’t really care. When I think about in hindsight, like today I was thinking about it like, ‘The guy’s probably losing his mind.’ He can’t really train. He’s got a hurt leg that he’s trying to rehab. Rent-free. I’m just living rent free (in his head).” (h/t MMAJunkie)

What is next for Dustin Poirier?

Dustin Poirier is all but set to take the next shot at the 155-pound title. ‘The Diamond’ cemented his place as the number one challenger in the division by securing three impressive wins on the trot. Hence, Charles Oliveira is most likely next for ‘The Diamond’. The fight between the two will be an epic lightweight clash between two men in the prime of their fighting careers.

However, Dustin Poirier has teased a fight against Nate Diaz on multiple occasions now. A fight against Nate Diaz would most likely take place at welterweight since Diaz has not competed at 155-pounds since December 2015.

Dustin Poirier received a lot of flak for turning down a shot at the title to go for a trilogy against Conor McGregor. At the time, White stated it was the right thing for Poirier to do, as it not only guaranteed a mega payday, but it also allowed him to close the chapter on the trilogy.

A fight against Nate Diaz would be a mega payday for Dustin Poirier. However, at this point in time, it is hard to see Poirier turning down yet another title shot in favor of a money fight. Also, the UFC might not be on board the idea of him jumping to 170-pounds either.
