Deiveson Figueiredo defended his belt last month in spectacular fashion against Alex Perez. A slick guillotine choke saw him submit the Dana White’s Contender Series alumni in less than two minutes of their fight. On the same card, Brandon Moreno took on Brandon Royval. It was understood that the winner of that fight would be next for the title shot.

Moreno put on a brilliant performance and stopped ‘raw dawg’ in the very first round via TKO. He then called out ‘Daico’ and said he was ready for a fight in December. The flyweight king obliged, and the UFC scheduled the fight for the coming weekend at UFC 256.

Deiveson Figueiredo names his next target after Brandon Moreno

In a recent interview, Ariel Helwani asked Figueiredo if he was offered Cody Garbrandt and Henry Cejudo next who he would like to fight more. Via a translator, ‘Daico’ replied, “You know, for sure Henry Cejudo. He talk a lot of shit. And I’m ready to shut up his mouth. Now is the time that somebody should shut his mouth up, to silence Henry Cejudo and he’s (Figueiredo) gonna do that”

Henry Cejudo retired earlier this year as a double champion. After his fight against Cruz, ‘Triple C’ hung up his gloves and retired at the top of his game just as he did with his wrestling career.

However, Cejudo has always mentioned that he would return if the price was right. His main goal, however, is to fight Alexander Volkanovski for the featherweight title in a bid to become a three-division champion. That seems unlikely at this stage.

‘Daico’ has done a fantastic job of carrying forward the flyweight division. He is currently on a five-fight win streak; four of those wins have come via stoppage.

If he were to get past Moreno in dominant fashion, it might tempt ‘Triple C’ to get back into the cage to back his repeated jibes at ‘Deus da Guerra’.
