Gabriel Silva is already a kickboxer, going 5-0 in the amateur circuit. He is also competing in Muay Thai competitions. His father opened up about training his son, even saying that he is sometimes scared of watching him compete.

“I tried to help Gabriel a lot in training and pass the good skills. The more important is the whole philosophy of martial arts. Gabriel have a huge and amazing future. But right now it’s just step by step. Take the time to absorb more technique, more experience for maybe one day come to UFC and fight.”

Silva added, “It’s tough for me you know because when you see your son fight, you’re little scared. I’m scared sometimes and I’ve become a little nervous because I know how much danger and how much tough it is to go inside the cage, go inside the ring, and fight. It’s not simple. But I try to help my son a lot.”

Anderson Silva embraces family life after retirement

Silva will fight in what should be his final MMA match. We say so because no retirement in MMA is final. However, this genuinely seems like the end of the road for the 45-year-old Silva, who hasn’t competed at the top level since he lost his title. There is no point for him to keep risking damage inside the cage, considering his legacy is already set in stone.

Silva has always maintained that martial arts are his passion and that the success and money just came with it. He has a deep respect for the sport he competed in and is bound to pass that mentality to his son. A bigger gift would be to pass the skills on, but Gabriel seems solid on his own already. Hopefully, he continues thriving under his father’s guidance and makes a run for the UFC one day.
