The much-anticipated lightweight fight between Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler was recently finalized. After months of back and forth, the two men will collide as the co-main event at UFC 268. The main event will be the rematch for the welterweight title between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
Prior to UFC 265, Justin Gaethje was invited to the weigh-in show. During the interview, Gaethje shared his thoughts on his next fight with Chandler, who was also present.

‘The Highlight’ continued, “I’m excited to fight someone I don’t like. It’s been a while. I have no reason not to like you. Something about your face just makes me want to punch it.”
Will the winner of Justin Gaethje vs Michael Chandler fight for the belt?
Michael Chandler and Justin Gaethje and ranked number two and four in the UFC’s lightweight rankings. Both men suffered a loss in their last outings, which happened to be for the belt. While Gaethje succumbed to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Charles Oliveira stopped Chandler in round two.

Both men are without a doubt two of the best fighters, not just at lightweight, but in the UFC period. ‘The Diamond’ will take on ‘Do Bronx’ for the title sometime soon. Islam Makhachev is taking on Rafael dos Anjos later this year.

If Makhachev were to secure a win over ‘RDA’, he would be next in line for a title shot. However, if he stumbles against ‘RDA’, the winner of Gaethje vs Chandler would be next in line.
