What’s the story?
Although Askren is a former UFC fighter, the odds seem in favor of Jake Paul, as they do not consider Askren a great striker. At a recent press conference, Paul commented on the same.
He said” No, a 100%, I mean this guy’s striking is that of a grandma, quite literally.” Askren always concentrated more on his takedowns and wrestling, which would be of no use in a boxing match.
Although Ben Askren was a great fighter, he is most well remembered for losing to Jorge Masvidal in 5 seconds, and Paul didn’t shy away from reminding him of the same.
” If I put a grandma in against Jorge Masvidal, she would have lasted longer than this guy.”
Jake Paul has had a couple of professional boxing fights and has won both. His last win came up against NBA player Nate Robinson.
Paul had called out a few UFC fighters, ultimately setting up a boxing match against Askren.
Expectations from the Jake Paul vs Ben Askren?
Both fighters seem reasonably confident going into the fight and have been at each other’s throats for some time.
In the official interview Paul said, “ You know, he is a good athlete, they say, but on April 17, he is going to get exposed.”

Many people believe that in boxing, the difference in skill between the two fighters would matter a lot. However, Ben believes that is not the case: he thinks that the difference in skill won’t matter, but the toughness and experience of the fighters will.

Fights like these always are grand spectacles, there is always social media buzz around the fights- the fight outside the ring matters as much as the one inside.
Ben has a great UFC record, but Jake Paul believes that Askren’s inability to strike hard is going to make the fight really easy for himself, and that he would expose all his opponents flaws when they finally face off against each other.
