Jan did not have the best possible start to his UFC career and stumbled multiple times early on. He was close to being cut from the UFC when he had won just one in five fights between April 2015 and April 2017.
However, the Polish fighter turned it around and secured a number of impressive wins that eventually got him a title shot against Dominick Reyes at UFC 253.

Dominic had previously gone 5 rounds against the greatest champion in the light heavyweight division in Jon Jones. According to most fans and pundits, he beat Jones. However, he did not have an answer to Polish power.

Jan Blachowicz is being overlooked, feels Chael Sonnen
On the recent episode of his Podcast “What Ifs,” Chael Sonnen gave his thoughts on the champion at 205 pounds.
He said, “Blachowicz who has a fight with Adesanya and with all due respect to Blachowicz, has never really been given the due he deserves… you can back the tape up okay….205 pounds the cupboards were so bare for name recognition. You had two studs from 185, two former world champions Rockhold and Weidman both bumped up to 185… whoever looks better will face Jones. That’s where we were 18 months back.”

Chael continued, “Reyes did a fantastic job and was rewarded for a fantastic job. Blachwoicz did a fantastic job was rewarded for it. I don’t Blachowicz was given full credit. To go out there and knock out Luke Rockhold tremendous job. Blachowicz then goes in with Reyes you gotta understand at the time he got in there with Reyes how terrified of Reyes people were…… So he bites down on his mouthpiece goes out there one more time against one more killer and finds a way to win. He is a straight up stud.”

Jan is not the most famous and flashy star in the UFC. Therefore, he is not the most famous either.
Adesanya, on the other hand, is one of the biggest stars in the sport and has a huge following. Therefore, it is understandable as to why he is a favorite going into the fight.
