Jan Blachowicz is the newest king of the Light Heavyweight division. However, he never got a chance to dethrone the king before him, Jon Jones. Jones vacated the Light Heavyweight Title after announcing a move to the Heavyweight division. His last two fights were controversial and close decision wins over Thiago Santos and Dominick Reyes.

Jones and Jan never met inside the Octagon, and the Polish superstar has his opinions on why Jones is yet to face him or accept his challenge. This is what he told Submission Radio.

“For me personally, the best will be Jon Jones. He promised me this fight after I knocked out Jacare. I believe in the future I will catch him someday.

Jan brought up his title win and used that to say Jones is afraid of him. “You see what I did to Dominick. He just did really good. He just escaped because he don’t wanna lose against me. I understand that he is afraid and he go to Heavyweight.”

The current LHW Champ reiterated that being the champions isn’t enough. “I got the belt, but I really just wanna beat him, you know? Because he never lose. I mean he lose one time but it was some disqualification, doesn’t count. So I wanna be the one who beat him in 205 division.”

Jan Blachowicz destined to meet Jon Jones?

Jan has to fight Jon Jones if he wants to make his championship reign credible. Jones is the most dominant fighter in not only the history of their division, but also the UFC. Outside his one DQ loss to Matt Hammil, Jones has no other losses on his resume, with most of his last fights being at the championship level.

Blachowicz is still a relatively new face amidst the pantheon of champions in the promotion. Which is why he would go after a legend like Jones. Blachowicz knows that he cannot start his legacy as a champion until he beats the greatest champion the division has ever seen. However, with Jones changing his body type to put on pounds for heavyweight, the questions over his ability to cut back down to 205 will be prevalent.
