Joanna Jedrzejczyk Hints at a Comeback-Says She’s Biding Her Time

There are have been a few fights in UFC history that will stand the test of time as the greatest fights ever. These are the fights that show fans what both fighters are made of, despite being bloody and bruised champions put on an incredible display of perseverance. The fight between Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk a UFC 248 is one such fight, which took place exactly a year ago today 

Joanna challenged Weili for the UFC Strawweight belt. Both women are considered among the finest strikers, not only in the women’s division but also in the entire UFC roster. And this was on full display when the two women took each other on.

The numbers involved in the fight are staggering. During the fight, ‘Magnum’ landed a mind-boggling, 165 significant strikes with an accuracy of 40%. She also landed an impressive 170 total strikes with an accuracy of 41%. 

The former champion Jedrzejczyk was not far behind. She landed an impressive 186 significant strikes with an accuracy of 51% and 196 total strikes with an accuracy of 52%. After the fight, Joanna suffered serious swelling on her forehead and it looked extremely dangerous. However, the former champion has since recovered well and plans to return to the ring this year. 

Joanna is 1-2 in her last three fights. Both losses have been against current UFC champions. She has been out of action for a year now and will be looking to get into the ring this year. However, neither a date nor an opponent have been confirmed thus far.

Weili Zhang set to defend her belt next month against Rose Namajunas 

Strawweight champion Weili Zhang is set to defend her title next month at UFC 261 against a former champion in Rose Namajunas.

After losing her title against Jessica Andrade, ‘Thug Rose’ bounced back to secure an impressive split decision win over Andrade in July last year. Rose is an exceptional striker and works under one of the brightest minds in MMA in Trevor Wittman. Therefore, the fight between two women will be a masterclass in striking.

Magnum’, on the other hand, is on a stunning 21-fight win streak and is unbeaten in the UFC this far. And every time she steps into the octagon, it does not look like she can be beaten anytime soon.
