Joe Rogan joined in on the ‘GOAT’ debate, a never-ending saga that may never reach a conclusive end. The likes of Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and ‘Mighty Mouse’ all make compelling cases to be considered the ‘GOAT’. All the aforementioned fighters have strengths and weaknesses in their respective CV’s that pips them over someone else. Joe Rogan joined in on the debate.
Following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement at UFC 254, the ‘GOAT’ debate was kick-started again. Many believe Khabib is the greatest ever given he has never lost and has dominated every single fight he has ever been in. Joe Rogan backs Jon Jones for the ‘GOAT’ debate
Joe Rogan has been with the UFC since the very beginning. He has covered the sport and has watched most of the greats in action. Therefore, he makes a very well-informed pick on who he thinks the greatest fighter is.
“That is the argument right, like who is the GOAT?. I think if you look at Jon Jones’s early career, Jon Jones wins the title early in his career, in 2011. And from then on has fought more fights as championship fights than any other fights. So he’s the most accomplished for sure. Wins the title, youngest guy to ever win the title in the UFC. Beats Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua who’s a legend, then the way he dominates all these other fighters…”The Joe Rogan Experience host continued, “Up until he gets to Alexander Gustafsson you can make the argument that he had a similar career (as Khabib). If you look at what he did. Jon didn’t lose any rounds, Jon was smashing people. Look at what he did to Rashad Evans, what he did to Rampage Jackson, at what he did to Lyoto Machida. Everybody he fought, up until the Gustafsson fight.
‘Bones’ has dominated his weight class for the better part of a decade. He holds the record for the most wins, most submission wins, longest win streak among many others.

Though ‘Bones’ has had close fights, which he arguably lost. He has faced multiple former champions and future hall of farmers. Khabib, on the other hand, has had a flawless career and has arguably lost only two rounds in the UFC.
Though the debate may never be settled, both men have displayed the highest level of mixed martial arts we have ever seen inside the octagon. We’re lucky to have witnessed both men in action during the same period.
