Former UFC dual division champion Conor McGregor recently suffered his second successive loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Prior to the loss, he snapped his leg and crashed onto the canvas in the dying seconds of round 1.

Although the action and the rivalry should have ended after the fight, it was far from it as McGregor lashed onto Poirier after the loss in the post-fight interview. Not only did he target Poirier, but he also had something to say to his wife.

Many MMA pundits and fans alike trashed McGregor for using foul language against Poirier and his wife. Some even thought Joe Rogan shouldn’t have taken that interview when McGregor was running high on emotions.

His good friend and training partner, Artem Lobov too, thinks it was unnecessary to give that interview. In an interview, the Russian explained even termed it a mad situation.

“It was a mad situation,” Lobov said. “I mean, look at the way Anderson Silva and Chris Weidman were after their injury happened. (McGregor) was still sitting up and I do think interviews shouldn’t even happen in that scenario.”

He further added, “I’m surprised that it did happen. It shouldn’t have happened, but it is what it is in a way. You have to move on and live to fight another day. Now it’s time to heal, train, fix mistakes and go back again. That’s it.”

How Dustin Poirier reacted to Conor McGregor and his injury updates?

Before the fight was stopped, Poirier was already dominating the Irishman. Even the judges had scored him more after the round. Irrespective of the injury or not, he was leading.

Poirier, in an interview, termed these talks as weak excuses. “Mainly I just feel it’s weak. It’s weak. It’s an excuse. But I’m trying not to read too far into it and go down these days of reading what videos are out or what people are saying.”

“Because I’m back home with my family. It’s a win on my record. I know I did what I needed to do in the fight, pre-fight, my training camp. I crossed and checked all the boxes I needed to check. Gave it my all and went out there and then…you know, like we’re saying it’s noise,” he added.
