UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith casually targets former divisional champion, Jon Jones. The American resurfaced Jones’ failed drug test issues dating back to the time when they fought for the title at UFC 235.

In a recent interview, Smith explained all the happenings in the build-up to their fight. He also explained why he never brought up Jones’s drug issues over media even though he knew that all along.

“After the Glover (Teixeira) fight, he had a lot of negative things to say and kind of hand taken some shots at me for the break-in and kind of making fun of me which really was kind of out of (the) left field. Because I’ve never attacked Jon personally,” he said.

Smith was not at all amused by some personal comments Jones made on him. The latter had also commented on a home invasion ‘Lionheart’ dealt with last year.

Smith added, “Up until that very point, he had never taken a shot at me personally. He’d obviously said he’s gonna kick my ass. He has even said ‘I don’t like that he said this,’ but he’s never been able to refute anything I said because I always talk about Jon very factually.”

Smith claims, Jon Jones failed every drug test prior to UFC 235

During their fight, Jones was heading towards a unanimous decision win. In the fourth round, ‘Bones’ landed an illegal knee to an already downed Smith (35-16).

At that time, if Smith had signaled for unable to continue, he could have been crowned the champion. Even before Aljamain Sterling, who captured the bantamweight title after an illegal knee from Petr Yan. This made Jones praise him, but a year later, he was making fun of Smith.
