Now, he is engaged in a Twitter battle with current UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, a man who is likely to be his first opponent in his debut fight in the heavyweight division. ‘The Predator’ took to Twitter and called ‘Bones’ a decision fighter. This irked Jones and in a series of tweets, he started lashing at the champ.

Jones said, A decision fighter? I carried the record for most submissions in the light heavyweight division for many years my friend. You are what we call a one-trick pony @francis_ngannou every champion I’ve ever faced punched hard. I see right through you.”

He didn’t stop there. He further said he would rather be called a decision fighter than being lasting for two rounds. “I would rather be a decision fighter than a last for two rounds fighter.”

‘Bones’, however, had some kind words for Ngannou too. He said he respects where Ngannou has come from and doesn’t want to indulge himself in verbal battle. A trait of him which he has been constantly using since is his debut in 2011.

Honestly @francis_ngannou I really respect you and your story. I really don’t feel the need to have to crush you in a verbal battle to do what I’ve done to everyone since 2011.”, he concluded.

Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou: Will it happen?

‘Bones’ is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time, if not the greatest. His records are enough to justify that. After conquering the light heavyweight division, he dropped his belt to move up to the heavyweight division.

He was all set to face the winner of Ngannou vs Miocic. But things have gone into the reverse-path after the match. Dana White took a dig at him and advised him to choose Israel Adesanya instead. He even hinted at Ngannou vs Derrick Lewis. Since then, Jones has continuously targeted UFC and also made his point clear that he will only fight if he gets a higher paycheck for the fight.

A fight of this caliber needs to happen. It needs to happen inside the ring and not over social media. Every fan around the world is still hoping the fight between the absolute greatest fighters happens soon. What do you make of the current Jones situation?
