The fight between Jan and ‘Izzy’ was the sixth champion vs champion fight in the UFC. The fighter from the lower weight category was 4-1 throughout history.

However, in rounds three and four, Jan made necessary adjustments. He relied on his wrestling and grappling to claw himself back into the fight. The light heavyweight champion controlled most of the fourth round on top of ‘Izzy’ and repeated that in round 5 to hand ‘Izzy’ his first loss.
