Jon Jones Responds to Jan Blachowicz’s UFC 253 Call-Out

Jon Jones is definitely the greatest light heavyweight of all time. However, that leads to a lot of top tier light heavyweights wanting to take the Jon Jones scalp for their mantlepiece. To be the first to legitimately defeat Jones in MMA is as good as a championship itself. Sometimes, even the championship isn’t enough.
Jan Blachowicz proved that point by calling out Jones upon winning the light heavyweight title. Jon was the man to leave the throne for the taking, but Jan wants to take the throne from the last king and not the next best thing.
Blachowicz’s call-out divided opinion, but Jones seems to have finally addressed it. He put up a video of Jan’s call out and said he doesn’t understand why people have assumed he is quitting the division.

Whether this indicates the possibility of a return to the division is unclear. However, Jan will be a restless champion until he gets his opportunity to knock down Jon Jones. There is no legitimate light heavyweight title reign if one doesn’t go through Jones.
Is Jon Jones not leaving the light heavyweight division?
Jones’s tweet suggests that his move to heavyweight could be a temporary thing. Obviously, he is altering his body in ways to ensure he can fight amongst the larger heavyweights.

But his implication of not having quit indicates that he may return to the division. Whether he wants to push for the title at heavyweight and come back down is also unclear.

Jones is still deceptively young. He is 33 and has already ruled the UFC for a decade. He has the gas left to make a separate push at heavyweight and come back down, but there isn’t much to gain for him by fighting Jan. His legacy in the division is cemented. This fight is more important for Jan than Jon.

But the hints towards a light heavyweight return should pique the interest of any Jon “Bones” Jones fan, as that is the division he dominated for nearly a decade.
