Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon Jones is at a crossroads with Dana White and UFC as a whole. What could have been a simple fight for the Heavyweight title with Francis Ngannou, has turned into a pay dispute scenario.

For the past one month or so, both parties have been trading shots on social media, either through tweets or through interviews.
Recently, White was doing an Instagram Live on his account when he got a visit from ‘Bones’ in the comment section. The comment read, “Hey look it’s my best friend.”

‘Bones’ has been taking shots at UFC ever since Ngannou defeated Miocic for the title. White, too, made things a bit complicated after taking a subtle dig at Jones at the UFC 260 post-fight press conference.
He advised Jones to pick up Isreal Adesanya instead of fighting Ngannou. He even hinted at Ngannou facing Derrick Lewis instead, as the latter was pushing for the contender’s spot after some good performances.
Regarding the pay dispute, Jones has been clear on his stand, he wants higher compensation to face someone like Ngannou. He even declined a paycheck ranging from $8 million to $10million last month.
I had a brief phone meeting with UFC‘s lawyer Hunter a few days ago. As of right now I expressed to him that anywhere around eight to $10 million would be way too low for a fight of this magnitude. That’s all that has been discussed so far.

‘Bones’ had relinquished his Light Heavyweight title after deciding to move up the division to challenge for the heavyweight title.
He is one of the greatest to have graced the octagon, if not the greatest. He last fought against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247 to defend his crown.

Francis Ngannou wants Jon Jones next
Ngannou has been clear on whom he wants to face next. During the UFC 261 post-fight interview, (where he was in Kamaru Usman’s corner) he made it clear he wants to face Jones next before fighting Lewis.
‘The Predator’ had described the matchup to be a once-in-a-lifetimeaffair. He also had some words of praise for Jones where he declared ‘Bones’ to be the greatest of all time.
He further said it will be about the legacy of both fighters and although UFC is leading him towards a Lewis collision, he still hopes to fight ‘Bones’ first.
