We know most UFC fighters ink their bodies with tattoos. Their tattoos have different meanings and are closely associated with that particular fighter.

Masvidal too has inked his body with tattoos. Unlike his fellow fighters in the promotion, the tattoos cover only a small portion of his body.

Famous neck tattoo of Jorge Masvidal

Masvidal has inked a ‘Gamebred’ tattoo on the left side of his neck. The tattoo is synonymous with his fight style and also serves as his nickname. His Twitter profile timeline has ‘Gamebred’ written over that with a caption, “Gamebred is an animal that has bred to be game.”

It was his brother who suggested the name, and Masvidal had also revealed its meaning. “Game means the ability to fight through pain and fatigue. It’s not about how your skill levels are, or if you’re good, bad, or world champion. Bred is just, you have a pit bull and another pit bull–you bred a pit bull.”

Masvidal has two daughters and one son from his previous partner, Iman Kawa. He has mostly kept his personal life under wrap from the outside world.

How has Jorge Masvidal performed recently?

Masvidal has been out of action since last year when lost his fight against Usman. The match went to the fifth round and the ‘Nigerian Nightmare’ won via unanimous decision. Masvidal had replaced Gilbert Burns in a week’s notice.

Prior to that, Masvidal had scored 3 consecutive victories. He won against Nate Diaz via knockout in the third round at UFC 244 and had scored a record 5 second KO victory against Ben Askren at UFC 239.

Masvidal has all odds stacked against him in his rematch against Usman. He will need all his experience to penetrate through the rock-solid Usman who has so far remained unbeaten. Will there be a new champ?
