Katlyn Chookagian Hits Back at Fan Who Called Her “One of My Least Favorite Fighters to Watch”

Katlyn Chookagian did not keep silent after being ridiculed by a fan on social media soon after her emphatic win over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 255.
The former flyweight title challenger spoilt Calvillo’s chance at fighting for the gold after a sound performance against the rising contender.
Not trying to hate, I’m sure she’s a good person. One of my least favorite fighters to watch, ever. How you fight is a choice, and it’s what makes this sport special. This girl decided point fighting was the way, and also decided to yell instead of breathe over every strike.

However, instead of being lauded for an incredible performance, Chookagian was met with outrage from a legion of fans. Chookagian did not keep quiet, and she sent out a fiery response to her critics with the following tweet.
Hey guy! I’m sorry we have diff opinions on our “choices” of fighting.. I prefer to hit my opponent and not take damage so I can have less injuries and brain damage while collecting my full paycheck to go back healthy and happy to my family. Maybe the way you fight is better…🤷🏼♀️ https://t.co/OSrzST7nE5

It’s hard not to agree with Chookagian. MMA is gruesome, and while it’s easy to sit outside and pass comments, it’s a completely different story inside the Octagon. As far as entertaining fight fans around the world, fighters do that by stepping inside the dreaded cage.
Additionally, fighters have to keep their health in order to live a peaceful life after resting their gloves. Chookagian’s decision to play safe and keep her health above everything while earning for her family is justified beyond a shadow of a doubt.
What’s next for Katlyn Chookagian?
Katlyn Chookagian continues to impress inside the Octagon. Having lost to former champions in Valentina Shevchenko and Jessica Andrade in the recent past, the ‘Blonde Fighter’ has kept others away from a title opportunity with her incredible performances.
Cynthia Calvillo looked one win away from landing a title opportunity against the undisputed champion Valentina Shevchenko after grabbing a unanimous decision win over former title challenger Jessica Eye.

Chookagian is coming off a TKO loss over Jessica Andrade. She made a quick turnaround in just over a month to take on someone as credible as Calvillo.
She currently reigns as the #2 flyweight contender of the world. Chookagian could look to avenge her loss against Jessica Eye. Both the fighters shared the Octagon back in December 2018 where Eye picked up a close split decision win over the ‘Blonde Fighter’.

A title opportunity seems really far after a sound TKO loss at the hands of Valentina Shevchenko back at UFC 247. However, Chookagian can still land a title opportunity with a couple of victories going forward.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Calvillo could be looking at a match-up against Jessica Andrade to solidify her position in the division once again.
