Following his retirement from the sport of MMA, Khabib Nurmagomedov has been spending most of his time pursuing interests outside the sport. ‘The Eagle’ is involved in multiple businesses, from an MMA promotion to protein cookies and everything in between. Nurmagomedov has also taken up a more important role as a coach to all of his fellow Eagle’s MMA athletes. Thus far, he is undefeated as a coach. 

Nurmagomedov has been a long-time football fan. ‘The Eagle’ is a die-hard Real Madrid fan and idolizes Cristiano Ronaldo Furthermore, he often posts pictures and videos of him playing football and meeting football stars. Recent reports suggest that Nurmagomedov himself might be on his way to becoming the next footballing icon.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is all set to realize his childhood dreams 

The official Instagram account of FC Legion Dynamo posted an update. The caption read, “A great battle awaits our Legion, for which we need great warriors. We are preparing to receive the RPL team together with @khabib_nurmagomedov”(translated using Google translate). Legion Dynamo is a football team that plays in the third-tier of the Russian professional soccer setup. 

Following his retirement, Nurmagomedov had posted a clip of him jogging in the desert with a caption that read, “Preparing for my football debut. I’m free agent, and ready to accept offers.”

Nurmagomedov has always maintained that apart from MMA, football was, and always will be, his favorite sport. He also claimed that as a child, it was his dream to play football professionally. At this point in time, it is not known if Nurmagomedov will actually play a full season with the club or not.

‘The Eagle’ retired from the sport towards the tail-end of last year. At UFC 254, he stopped Justin Gaethje in round two to extend his win streak to a perfect 29-0. Following the win, Khabib Nurmagomedov announced he would be stepping away from the sport. 

Subsequently, Dana White pursued Nurmagomedov for one last fight for a few months before realizing that he could not convince him otherwise. Hence, ‘The Eagle’, who hung up his boots, is now enjoying life as an officially retired fighter.
