Due to the pandemic, a lot of fights have had to be canceled last minute. This has allowed a lot of fighters to step up at the eleventh hour and make the most of the opportunity presented to them and take huge leaps forwards in their UFC careers. This weekend, against Leon Edwards, Belal Muhammad aims to do just that.
Exactly one month on from his last fight, ‘Remember the Name’ steps back into the octagon to take on arguably his toughest challenge to date. Muhammad will be attempting to hand Edwards his first loss since December 2015. ‘Rocky’ lost that fight to the current champion, Kamaru Usman, and has embarked on an impressive eight-fight run.
The winner of the upcoming fight will have most likely be next in line for a title shot against the champion or be in a title eliminator against Colby Covington.

Belal Muhammad has focused on the upside against Leon Edwards
In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto. Belal Muhammad gave an insight into why he accepted the fight against Leon Edwards and his mindset going into the fight.
He said, “All these people are like telling me you got nothing to lose. Go out there, you got nothing to lose. I do got a lot to lose man, I win this fight, I’m fighting for the title or I’m fighting Colby Covington. I’m right there in the mix, so I got a lot to gain from this fight and I got a lot to lose from this fight.”

‘Remember the Name’ continued, “And it’s life-changing, so I’m not going in there with a mindset of losing at all…. I’m here to win I think I can be a champion so I’m not going in there with the mindset that all these people are coming at me with….. I’m looking at number one, that’s the only person that I got my eyes on that’s Usman. For me, Leon Edwards is my title fight….Leon Edwards is going to be my next victim.”

Muhammad is currently ranked 13th, whereas Edwards is ranked 3rd in the 170-pound division. A win for Muhammad will show the welterweight division that there is another candidate among their ranks to make a challenge for the gold.

However, ending Edward’s eight-fight win streak will not be an easy task.
