The lightweight division is a three-horse race right now. Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, and Charles Oliveira – all make an excellent case for a title shot. After UFC 257, ‘The Diamond’ cemented his place as the top lightweight in the division, and it remains to be seen who he faces in the octagon to unify the belt.

Dustin believes that it should be ‘Do Bronx’ standing across the octagon from him for the title. However, Dana White has different plans for the division. Either way, the lightweight division is in an extremely interesting place right now, and multiple blockbuster matchups lie ahead at 155-pounds.

After his win at UFC 257, ‘The Diamond’ had the names of Nate Diaz and Charles Oliveira on his hit list. The two men were previously scheduled to fight in 2018, but a hip injury ruled Dustin out of the bout against Diaz

The Stockton native, on the other hand, last fought in November 2019 against Jorge Masvidal for the ‘BMF’ belt. After losing the fight, Nate insisted that he would only accept a rematch.

Dana White recently said that the UFC is working on a return for Diaz. However, this time around, it would be a return to lightweight for the fan-favorite. Although the opponent is not known at this stage, Dana did clarify that it would not be Tony Ferguson.

If Nate were to return and fight ‘The Diamond,’ it would definitely not be for the lightweight belt, as he is currently unranked in the division.
