Nate Diaz is one of the most attractive fights for any fighter in the UFC. A match with him is a guaranteed payday and something that will provide an exciting fight. However, it isn’t easy to get Diaz in the cage. He has fought just twice since his second fight against Conor McGregor in 2016. His last bout came almost two years ago in October 2019 against Jorge Masvidal.
However, it seems a fighter has him on his mind. Vicente Luque will be facing Tyron Woodley tomorrow in a very exciting bout. Luque is hoping to add to Woodley’s three-fight skid and break into the top of the Welterweight rankings. But regardless of what happens, Luque is eyeing a fight against Diaz in the future.

“A fight with Nate Diaz is something that will always be in my interest. I think he’s a great fighter, and it’s a style that I really enjoy a lot. I think it’s similar to mine. We just go out there and try to excite the fans. But it didn’t happen. Maybe one day it will.”
Diaz isn’t a common call-out because of his tricky fighting style. It takes a lot of confidence to call out a Diaz brother, even if they have spotty records. It is a tough night in the cage and it is seemingly something Luque welcomes. But what will happen with Nate?

A fight with Diaz would be perfect for a lot of people. There were talks of completing the Conor McGregor trilogy, but Conor seems occupied with Dustin Poirier right now. Along with that, there are plenty of interesting fights at Welterweight for Diaz.
He isn’t ranked high, with Luque actually being ranked higher than him. But the aspiration to get inside the cage with Nate isn’t about rankings, it is about the appeal and the excitement. Luque is down for it, but will Diaz agree? We will have to see.
