

The UFC women’s roster is stacked across all weight divisions with some incredibly gifted and dominant champions in Amanda Nunes, Valentina Shevchenko, and Weili Zhang. Dana White was strictly against having women in the UFC, which is no secret. This changed when the likes of Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate among others ushered in a wave of female fighters, post-UFC 157.
Since the addition of women in the UFC, we have seen some incredible fighters and fighters. We have witnessed the rise and dominance of one of the greatest champions in UFC history and not just in the women’s divisions, in Amanda Nunes, among other generational talents like Holly Holm and Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Miesha Tate sheds light on women’s MMA
In a recent interview, a reporter asked Miesha Tate her thoughts on the current state of Women’s MMA she replied, “You know, there was something special about the era I got to be a part of. But I think these things come in cycles, you know. There is an ebb and flow to the sport in general…. I think we came in hot cause it was Ronda and I and there was that rivalry. And anytime you have a rivalry inside a sport it adds that much interest”

Tate continued, “We came in hot and maybe now it’s at a little bit of a lull. But I think it will build up again. This happens in the men’s divisions too…. It happens in general so. The time I got to be there was great and I’m so thankful for that opportunity, I guess you could call it the golden era right now but I think it will come back around again, and the women will flourish and there will be another golden era.”
The likes of Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey set the bar incredibly high for the women’s division in its early years. The rivalry between the two women bought a lot of attention to the sport.

Ronda, in the initial years, carried the burden of promoting the women’s division all on her own. However, today the women’s division matches the men’s division toe to toe in almost every aspect and has some incredible champions.
