Tate, 34, is preparing for her first battle in almost 5 years against Marion Reneau on July 17, 2021, at UFC Fight Night 192. She had retired after her last fight in 2016 against Raquel Pennington.

In her recent interview with Helen Yee Sports, ‘Cupcake’ spoke about the main event clash at UFC 262. She also picked her fighter, who could win the titular clash. She said, “maybe like an early pic right now? I’m kind of liking Michael Chandler in this fight, you know”.

She further mentioned that she’s a big fan of Oliveira and believes that the Brazilian fighter is good in every area. Tate said, “I’m a huge fan of Charles Oliveira, he is incredible, the finishes he has got, his striking, he’s good in every area.”

But she says she is still in awe of what Chandler did in his first fight. It’s hard for her to look beyond Chandler in his fight against Oliveira.

Chandler made his debut for the promotion at UFC 257. He fought Dan Hooker and picked up a first-round TKO victory over him. The former Bellator lightweight champion stunned everyone with his impressive display of striking.

His performance was so imperious that he got picked up to fight for the vacant lightweight title straight. It was left vacant after the retirement of Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Miesha Tate eyeing a titular fight with Amanda Nunes

During her earlier stint in the promotion, Tate (18-7) was one of the top draws in the promotion. She finally became the bantamweight champion after winning against Holly Holm at UFC 196. Her first title defense was against ‘The Lioness’ Amanda Nunes at UFC 200. After applying a rear-naked choke in the first round, Nunes captured the title from ‘Cupcake’.

In her latest interview, Tate spoke about her preparation and path to the titular picture. She said she has done everything to be prepared for the battle. She wants to face Nunes for the title. ‘Cupcake’ said, “I want to fight Amanda again, I want to be a champion again, no doubt about it”. She further added, “ If I feel like I’m killing the game and after two fights I’m ready, then I will go for it and I will hunt down the champion”
