From his very public splat with Darren Till to appointing his inexperienced girlfriend as his sole cornerman in fights, Perry has made a lot of questionable decisions off late. Nonetheless, Perry still remains one of the top fighters in the welterweight division.

Despite the recent criticism, Perry is very confident of his prospects. ‘Platinum’ recently took to Instagram to make a case for him being the ‘GOAT’ in mixed martial arts.

His reason being, “Saw this thing, It was like, It was McGregor and Khabib’s opponent’s records. And it was like their records together. So, McGregor’s opponents had 268 wins and like 68 losses. What is next for Mike Perry?

Perry started off his career with a stunning 9-0 unbeaten run. He won his first two fights in the UFC via knockout, and ‘Platinum’ looked like an extremely promising talent in the welterweight division.

However, since then, ‘Platinum’ has failed to put together a decent win streak which would get him close to a title shot. Perry has been extremely inconsistent with his performances. He puts on a stunning display in one fight and succumbs to a lackluster loss in his very next fight.

The American fighter has lost six of his last 10 fights in the UFC and is 2-3 in his last five fights. Dana White has stated that the UFC will be cutting around 60 fighters this year from its roster.

Perry will have to pull himself together and secure a string of wins; otherwise, he might not be in the UFC for too long. ‘Platinum’ is still only 29 and has a lot of time to develop, provided he is backed by the right people.
