Fan-favorite fighter, Tony Ferguson, suffered yet another loss when he faced Beneil Dariush at UFC 262 last weekend. The former interim lightweight champion has seen a fall from grace as he went from a 12-0 win streak to 0-3 in one year.

‘El Cucuy’, for the longest time, was thought to be the fighter who could potentially hand Khabib Nurmagomedov his first professional loss, or at least come close to it. However, based on recent form, Ferguson is closer to being released by the UFC than he is to a title shot. Although Ferguson stated that he would continue fighting, fans will be hoping that he re-thinks his decision as he is on an alarming slump.

At UFC 262, Dariush trapped Ferguson in a leg lock. Dariush’s hold was extremely tight, and he made sure to twist the leg completely. Dariush claimed that he heard a pop and was very confident that there would have been some serious damage to Ferguson’s leg. However, to the relief of his fans, Ferguson has now stated that it’s just a ‘sprain’ and nothing else.

In the post-fight press conference, White was not too keen on letting Ferguson continue. This was primarily due to his age and the manner in which he lost his three fights. However, ‘El Cucuy’ most definitely wants to continue.

An interesting fight that could be made is Tony Ferguson vs Donald Cerrone. Both men are fan-favorites and have been on a slump in their last few fights. White stated that he would allow Cerrone one more fight in the promotion. Hence, a rematch against Ferguson would make perfect sense. It would be the perfect send-off for two of the most liked fighters in the UFC.
