Dana White recently shocked the MMA fans with his latest announcement. White announced that the rematch for the welterweight strap between Jorge Masvidal and Kamaru Usman will take place at UFC 261. To add to that, the UFC supremo stated that the UFC would hold the PPV at the Vystar Arena with 15,000 fans in attendance.

This is the first event since UFC 248, which will have fans in attendance. Although it was no secret that the UFC was working on a fight between ‘Gamebred’ and ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ the reports suggested that the two men would coach a season of The Ultimate Fighter which would eventually culminate in a title fight.

They set the timeline for the same in the second half of the year. However, a quick turn of events will see Kamaru Usman defend his belt for the fourth time. This will come just a little over two months after his last third defense.

Jorge Masvidal starts the trash talk for UFC 261

A few hours after the announcement was made, ‘Gamebred’ took to Twitter to troll Kamaru Usman. He wrote, “Over/under usman goes for my crotch within 2 min? #andnew”

Masvidal has always been extremely critical of fighters who primarily grapple. ‘Gamebred’ is not a fan of this style and dismantled a wrestler in Ben Askren in under 5 seconds. Though ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ has a strong base in wrestling, two of his last three fights have been TKO victories.

Despite securing the win at UFC 251, Usman received a lot of criticism for his style of fighting. For the majority of the fight, he had ‘Gamebred’ up against the fence and repeatedly stomped his feet, which later became a meme in itself.

Given that Masvidal is the better striker, Usman will most likely resort to his wrestling and grappling skills, which served him well on Fight Island.
