For ‘The Killa Gorilla’, it would’ve been a first title shot. However, for Whittaker with the win, he has placed himself perfectly for a rematch with ‘Izzy’.

Robert Whittaker gives his thoughts on a potential rematch with Israel Adesanya
In the post-fight, John Morgan stated that Dana White was interested in a re-match with Israel Adesanya for ‘The Reaper’. He then asked Whittaker what he thought of a re-match and if he was looking forward to the same.
‘The Reaper’ replied, “Yeah, he’s a tough fight man. I’m not stoked to fight him. He’s a hard fight, and he is so good. He only looked better in his last fight. And the fact that he beat me once already. But I feel I’ve got a couple of tricks I can roll out. I feel like I can play it differently this time.”

Whittaker continued, “But honestly, I know he’s trying to do everything else, and good on him to do that. I’m not thinking about him… He can go up to light heavy or heavyweight whatever he wants to do. My plans are Christmas, my baby, then hopefully our timelines line up then.”

Robert then added that he wants that re-match against Adesanya at some point. However, his mentality with the fight game is, “You line them up, I’ll knock them down.”
