The UFC is gearing up for its second consecutive PPV event. UFC 268 takes place at Madison Square Garden. This is the first time that the UFC has put on an event at the mecca of combat sports since 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic did not allow the promotion to put on a show at ‘MSG’ last year.

The promotion organized a press conference in the build-up to UFC 268 which featured the likes of Colby Covington, Kamaru Usman, and the other protagonists of the main card this weekend.

As expected, there was a lot of trash talk, both from ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ and ‘Chaos’. Covington repeatedly bashed Usman for faking eye pokes and groin strikes in the first fight. He also stated he did not respect Usman as a fighter because he is a cheater.

‘Chaos’ made sure to leave no stone unturned as he involved Usman’s family while trash-talking as well. After around 30-minutes of back and forth, Dana White called an end to the press conference and made the athletes face off against each other. Usman and Covington engaged in a fierce stare-down before the reigning champ shoved Covington. Surprisingly, ‘Chaos’ did not react to what Usman did.

Kamaru Usman shares his thoughts on the pre-fight press conference for UFC 268

Following the intense stare-down, the champion shared his thoughts on what had just transpired. He said, “Nothing you know, just wanted to feel his energy. Feel his spirit. Seems like he forgot who the f***ing daddy is. So I had to let him know that. Sometimes your sons want to step up but you gotta remind them who their daddy is and that is what I did.”

The champion, on the other hand, does not believe the change in camps for Covington will lead to a change in the results. Saturday night will be a war of wills between two of the best at welterweight.
