Khabib Nurmagomedov is not fighting this week, yet the UFC’s 2021 debut is headlined by talks about him. Whether Khabib is returning to the octagon is the number one question on everyone’s mind. Considering how UFC 257 has four of the top Lightweights fighting in the last two fights, Khabib can scope out the possible competitors before making a decision.

However, there is an opponent that we have been teased about before. That opponent is Georges St-Pierre. Dana White came out and said that the GSP-Khabib matchup was dead, but Khabib had an intriguing response when asked about the matchup by The Schmo. Schmo was interviewing Matt Serra and Din Thomas while Khabib walked by them and answered a question by Schmo about GSP.

Considering the pristine records both men have, there is no fight in the UFC which would have more weight on MMA history than this. If Khabib can retire with a win over GSP, his quest for GOAT becomes more unquestionable. However, the talk surrounding the fight hasn’t been optimistic. But the fans can always hope that there is a swerve coming up.
