This past weekend at UFC 255, UFC woman flyweight contender, Katlyn Chookagian, went up against Cynthia Calvillo and got herself back to winning ways.
Katlyn Chookagian secured a unanimous decision victory. Fighting just over a month ago at Fight island, she lost in the very first round to Jessica Andrade.
Despite that shortcoming, she maintained her position as the second-ranked contender at flyweight when she walked into UFC 255.

Chookagian put up a great performance and at the post-fight press conference, she said,
“Obviously, anyone that wants to fight Valentina probably has to fight me first. I’ve already beaten Lauren Murphy, but I’ll do it again. It’s an easy paycheck, so whatever. I don’t care who I fight. I just want to stay active and I have no injuries. I’ve had five fights in a year, so if I can keep that going, I like that.”

She is of the opinion that anyone who wants a title shot will have to go through her first and called a fight against Lauren Murphy easy money.
UFC flyweight strikes back
That statement in particular didn’t go down well with Murphy. Taking to Twitter, she took a stance and said there isn’t any need for them to fight again.
Murphy wrote, “Wtf would this do for me? Fight a girl who has been finished twice in the last year? Thanks but no thanks. I already beat a title contender. For my next trick, I’d like to beat someone who has actually won the belt.”

Chookagian and Murphy met for the first time back in 2016 at UFC Fight Night 91: McDonald vs Lineker. Chookagian took that bout via unanimous decision and is confident of her chances if they were to meet inside the octagon once again.

Murphy has been pushing for a title shot for a while. Though she has secured wins over well-ranked contenders, none were near the very top to solidify her as a top contender. But a fight and a win against Chookagian will make the statement she’s looking to make.
