The emerging superstar Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ ended ‘The Reaper’s’ reign as the champion at 185-pounds in front of a record-breaking crowd at the Marvel Stadium. Since then, Robert Whittaker has been clawing his way back to the top. The Australian fighter had a tremendous 2020 as he secured two impressive wins over top middleweights in Darren Till and Jared Cannonier.

After his win over Cannonier, most fans and pundits believed that he would get a rematch against ‘Izzy’. However, he stated that he was in no hurry to fight for the title. Due to this, the UFC went ahead and matched Adesanya up against Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight crown.

When asked if the fight against Jan exposed any areas in Adesanya’s game that he could exploit, he said, “Perhaps, perhaps, it’s very hard to adapt the plans without [Blachowicz’s] power. But we’ve got to wait and see how Izzy comes back down to middleweight; I’ve got a couple of things up my sleeve I’m looking to try next time we cross paths, so we’ll wait and see”
