Michael Chandler is one of the best lightweights in the world. The former Bellator champion has proved his mettle, having won the Bellator lightweight belt and defending it multiple times. However, MMA fans have always wondered how he would fare against the very best that the UFC had on offer.

Chandler now has the opportunity to prove himself in the UFC among the best. Upon signing with the UFC, his first assignment was being a replacement fighter for the UFC 254 main event. Despite traveling to Fight Island and making weight, Chandler did not fight. Both Justin and Khabib made it to the event with no problems. Chandler aims to establish himself in the UFC.

Michael Chandler states there will be no rest when there is a vacant title

The aftermath of UFC 254 has shaken the lightweight division up. ‘The Eagle’ announced his retirement and has now put the likes of Chandler, Ferguson, McGregor, Poirier, and Gaethje in prime position to grab the throne.

Michael Chandler took to Twitter to share his thoughts he said, “16 hour flight back to US. Landed back in Vegas. Catch another flight home in few hours. Pumped to spend some time with the family. But there will be no rest while there is a vacant throne…”  Chandler then added, “There will be blood…and I’m looking forward to it.”

Chandler is ready to fight and is in shape given he just finished a training camp. However, ‘Iron’ has thrown out multiple names he would like to face. Ferguson and Gaethje are both on Chandler’s hit list.

Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor are likely to fight in January 2021. The fight between the two men will most probably be for the vacant title. Ferguson recently lost to Gaethje and has been desperate to get a fight. Therefore, a fight with Chandler might make perfect sense for ‘El Cucuy.’

Gaethje just fought for the title and came up short. He would have to rack up a few wins under his name before he can challenge for the title again.

The lightweight division looks incredibly exciting at the moment. Five world-class fighters are in the mix for a title; however, only one can claim it. Who will it be?
