‘That Guy is Tough as s**t’- Gilbert Burns Eyes a Fight With Leon Edwards Over Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz

Gilbert Burns is one of the best at welterweight in the UFC. The former title challenger bounced back into the win column with an impressive win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 as the co-main event. However, his win over ‘Wonderboy’ was not his best performance to date and drew the ire of UFC supremo Dana White.
Following the win, Burns has been very vocal about who he wants next. Three names, in particular, are on Burns’ radar. Jorge Masvidal, Leon Edwards, and Nate Diaz are three names ‘Durinho’ is considering as his next opponent.
In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on who he would like to fight next and when he would like to return to the octagon. He said, “Leon No. 1, Masvidal No. 2, Diaz if he wants it. If they want it, they can get it. We’ll see. But October, three rounds, if it’s five rounds then we go November.I already talked to Dana right after the fight, and I don’t know.”

‘Durinho’ continued, “We’re waiting on these guys. I want to fight – for sure I need a little time just to recover my body, get back in training and all that and get to camp. But I’ll be able to go again (in) October, November, and those are the two guys that kind of get me going more. First of all, Leon Edwards is No. 3, freaking 10-fight winning streak, that’s a fight that excites me. Guy is freaking tough. He’s been beating everybody. He has a big case to fight for the title. That’s a fight that I want. That guy is tough as sh*t, very tough, very good”

What is next for Gilbert Burns?
Gilbert Burns wants Leon Edwards next. However, reports suggest that the UFC is looking at a grudge match between Masvidal and Edwards. If that is the case Burns would miss out on two of the three names he is eyeing. A fight against Nate Diaz at this point in time does not look like a possibility for ‘Durinho’.
