‘Time to Show These Kids How to Fight’- Jan Blachowicz Confirms His Title Clash at UFC 266

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz is set to defend his title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 266. The fight is set to take place on September 4th later this year.

Although UFC announced the fight, they are yet to decide on a venue. Meanwhile, Blachowicz took to Twitter and confirmed the same. He captioned it, ” It’s official! Time to show these kids how men fight.”

The Pole will defend his title for the second time. He had previously fought Israel Adesanya at UFC at UFC 259. He miraculously prevailed over 5 rounds to pick up a unanimous decision over the current Middleweight champion. The win ensured that he became the first fighter to defeat Adesanya.

Recent records of Jan Blachowicz and Glover Teixeira

Prior to his win against Adesanya, Blachowicz was on a 4 match win streak starting from UFC 239. He had defeated Luke Rockhold via KO in Round 2. He then faced Ronaldo Souza at UFC Fight Night 164 and labored a split decision victory after 5 rounds.

His next victory came at UFC Fight Night 167 against Corey Anderson, where he demolished him to pick up a 1st-round victory.

He fought Dominick Reyes for the vacant Light Heavyweight title following the departure of Jon Jones from the division. He captured the title after inflicting yet another KO loss on his opponent.

Teixeira, on the other hand, will enter his battle against Blachowicz on the back of 5 straight victories. His advanced age hasn’t slowed him down a bit.

His streak started with a victory over Karl Roberson via submission at UFC Fight Night 143. Teixeira’s next couple of wins came against Ion Cutelaba and Nikita Krylov, respectively.

He then defeated Anthony Smith via TKO last year before finishing former title contender Thiago Santos via rear-naked choke later that year.

Winner to face Jiri Prochazka next

It’s almost confirmed that the winner between Blachowicz and Teixeira will fight Prochazka next. The latter recently picked up an impressive victory over former title challenger Dominick Reyes via a spinning back elbow.

Though only two matches old in the promotion, he has already impressed many fighters and fans alike. Even the champ had acknowledged his feat and showed his interest to fight him next.

The clash between Blachowicz and Teixeira is a matchup of clean striking vs excellent grappling skills. It could turn out to be one of the matches of the year.
