Tony Ferguson is certainly one of the most entertaining characters in the UFC. The Mexican-American is extremely unorthodox inside and outside the ring.

Ferguson’s style is so unique that it’s difficult to predict what he will do next. The same can be said about his training and interviews. Tony is often seen doing things that would normally not be considered ‘training’

“Tony Ferguson is the type of guy” has been a running meme thanks to the quirky individual that is Tony. However, one thing that Tony does well and has done repeatedly is win. Ferguson was on a 12 fight win streak before facing Gaethje. “El Cucuy” finished 9 of his 12 opponents and left most of them in a bloody mess.

The 36-year-old has always been in and around the title picture. Unfortunately, he has never won the undisputed title.

In May of this year, Tony fought Justin for the interim lightweight title. The winner would get a shot at Khabib Nurmagomedov. Justin put on the performance of his life to earned a unanimous decision win over Tony.

Dustin Poirier was set to be next for “El Cucuy.” The pair were set to fight on the same card as Justin and Khabib in the co-main event.

However, Dustin recently revealed to Ariel Helwani on ESPN that the fight with Tony was off. “I’m a prizefighter and the prize needs to be right” he said. He also went on to add “I just need to be compensated if they want this fight”

Recently, when asked about the situation of the fight and if it was salvageable, Dana White said “No we’re not even trying to salvage that fight. We’re getting him another fight.”

Tony took to twitter to voice his opinions on the same. He tweeted saying “Here’s looking at you kid” Pay the man @danawhite @UFC Love ya’ll. Let’s give the hardcore & casual fans what they deserve, a good fight sir.”

Dustin tweeted saying, “Violence!!! Let’s go Tony!!!” and followed that up with a joke, “Tony’s the type of guy who would manage his opponent and get him a new contract for the fight to happen.”
