Season 29 of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ returned for its 3rd episode as Brian Ortega and featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski act as the joint host for the show. The current season comprises middleweight and bantamweight fighters coached by the aforementioned duo.

Before their face-off, middleweight fighters Tresean Gore and Ryder Newman discussed their upcoming fight in the house.

Newman had some concerns as Miles Hunsinger who trains with him at XTreme Couture in Las Vegas, is on the opposite team for the show. But Gore assured his upcoming opponent their conversations were not about revealing secrets to his game (via MMA Junkie).

“He’s not that type of guy,” Gore said. “When we talk, bro, we talk about family. We talk about real stuff.”

Gore though, said he already knew about Newman’s game and doesn’t need any additional insight. The two men shook hands and said they looked forward to the fight.

Talking about both the fighters, team Ortega’s Gore trains at American Top Team along with former Bellator champ Douglas Lima. He started his training in jiu-jitsu at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu when he was 17 years old.

Team Volkanovski’s Neyman is a Las Vegas native who is a two-time national champion wrestler in high school. He now trains at XTreme Couture in Las Vegas.

TUF 29- episode three: Gore vs Neyman

The first round started with Gore taking charge with leg kicks. In order to counter, Neyman used punches. The fight continued in the same motion until it reached the last minute. Both fighters used takedown attempts and were unsuccessful.

The second round followed the first round suit. Gore used leg kicks but his teams asked him to also focus on jabs in between. Neyman attempted a takedown that was thwarted by Gore.

The latter then landed a hard right to push Newman backward. His next punch attempt took a toll on Neyman. Although the latter used some counter punches, Gore was too good to be deterred by this.

After the rounds, judges declared Gore as the winner via unanimous decision. The fighter proceeded to the semifinals. The win also gave Ortega’s team a 3-0 lead over Volkanovski’s team.

Episode four of the season will feature a bantamweight bout. Volkanovski selected Dustin Lampros to face Ortega’s Vincent Murdock .
