Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz will fight for the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 253. After Jon Jones’ decision to move up to heavyweight and subsequently relinquishing the title ‘The Devastator’ and Jan will now be able to realize their ultimate goal in the sport.
For the better part of a decade, the light heavyweight division has been dominated by Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier. Since March 2011, no man other than Jones or Cormier has held the belt at 205 pounds. It will be a change of guard when either of Jan or Dominick is crowned the new light heavyweight champion.

Dominick Reyes on his thoughts on fighting for the belt and Jon Jones
In a recent interview, Dominick was asked if it disappointed him that he would not be getting a rematch with Jon for the title.
Reyes replied, “Nah, man, I don’t give a f**k about Jon. This is about Dominick Reyes and my journey and the gold belt. As long as I get that gold that’s all that matters to me. That’s all that’s ever mattered to me. With Jon, it was cool because I’d be knocking off the greatest light heavyweight of all time. That would’ve been cool and freaking awesome, but it is what it is.”

He added, “We’ve turned the page. This is my challenge in front of me. I got a serious f***ing threat in front of me. I do my work and show I’m the best light heavyweight in the world.”
‘The Devastator’ fought for the light heavyweight belt for the first time in February. Though he came up short many believed he did enough to win that fight. Since then he has thought of himself as the ‘Uncrowned champion’.

Come Saturday night, Dominick will get a second shot a few months apart to make his dream a reality. The Mexican-American will be eager to grab this opportunity with both hands and become the new king of the light heavyweight division. However, in Jan Blachowicz he faces someone who is a bonafide knockout artist and can end the fight with just one punch.
