Georges St-Pierre is often considered the greatest MMA fighter for many reasons. He has beaten everyone who beat him and retired as the champion. Khabib Nurmagomedov has done the same, but without losing even a single MMA fight. This has re-opened the debate for GOAT, and GSP has aired his thoughts.

He said, “There is many guys that has been the greatest fighter of all time. It is an impossible thing to be the greatest fighter of all time. We all have moments where we shine and share the greatest of all time. Khabib with his performance tonight was the greatest of all time.”

“Anderson Silva, he knocked out Vitor Belfort. One of the greatest of all time. Jon Jones when he knocked out Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson was greatest of all time. Adesanya when he beat Paulo Costa the last time was the greatest of all time. B. J. Penn had this moment when he beat Matt Hughes…”

GSP added, “We all have a window where we are the greatest of all time…But it is just a fugazi. It will appear and then disappear in a second… Because that moment will never happen again. It’s a fugazi, and that is why I don’t believe in this debate.”

‘GSP’ had a longer career with more fights at the championship level. Khabib is leaving the sport after his fourth title fight, which many fans may hold against him. But in the case against Georges, ‘The Eagle’ may just fall flat for that reason.

GSP’s rivalries were iconic, and he won at the highest level for a long time. Khabib is possibly the most dominant fighter the sport has ever seen, but ‘Rush’ embodied MMA for the longest time. However, at the end of the day, both fighters are two of the greatest of all time. And as GSP said, all of it changes with time. Maybe someone else is the GOAT by 2025. Who knows?
