Brandon Royval vs Brandon Moreno for the number one contender spot?
Brandon Moreno has been in the company for 4 years now. He made his debut in October 2016 with a win over Louis Smolka. In his time at flyweight in the UFC, his record is 6-1-2.
He is 2-0 in his last two fights and has secured both wins via unanimous decision. A win against a tough adversary in Royal would put him in prime position to challenge for the title.

Brandon Royval on the other hand made his UFC debut in May 2020 with a win over Tim Elliott. He then faced Kai Kara France at UFC 253 in September this year. He is currently 2-0 in the UFC and both wins have come via submission.
Going into the fight, Moreno will have to two-inch reach advantage. ‘The Assassin Baby’ has secured 59% of his win via submission. He has a Takedown average of 1.75 per 15 minutes with an accuracy of 40% he also averages 0.54 submissions per 15 minutes.
Moreno is strong on the ground but does not lag behind on the feet. In the UFC, he landed an impressive three significant strikes per minute and absorbed just 2.94 in return.
Royal on the other hand is extremely dangerous on the ground and has secured 67% of his wins via submission. ‘Raw Dawg’ landed an impressive 1.81 takedowns per 15 minutes with an accuracy of 100% he also averages a mind-boggling 3.16 submissions per 15 minutes.

This fight will most likely be decided on the ground given it is where both men are extremely good. However, it will not be easy given that Moreno has a takedown defense of 69% and Royval has a takedown defense of 60%.

Based on current form and performances, Royal should be able to pip Moreno to win his third fight in the UFC and put himself in a prime position for a title shot
