Kevin Holland has been one of the breakout stars this year. ‘Trailblazer’ was supposed to fight Jack Hermansson earlier this month. However, a positive COVID test ruled him out of the fight. The American fighter wasted no time sitting around and quickly accepted a fight against a dangerous opponent in Jacare Souza.

Holland went into the fight 4-0 in this calendar year with 3 stoppage victories. With a win over ‘Jacare’ he became the first middleweight to go 5-0 in the calendar year and only the third person in UFC history to win five fights in a calendar year. A truly remarkable feat for ‘Trailblazer’ who is quickly emerging as a fan favorite.

Holland makes history at UFC 256 

Kevin Holland took on an extremely difficult and experienced opponent in Ronaldo Souza. Early on in the fight, while Holland was on his back, he landed some devastating elbows on ‘Jacare’s’ head, which gave an indication of what was to come.

While on his back with Souza on top of him, Holland created space by kicking Souza off him. He then landed a punch flush on the Brazilian fighter’s head that hurt him. Recognizing that, ‘Trailblazer’ landed another punch off his back before getting up and landing a barrage of punches before the referee stepped in.

Kevin Holland entered the UFC’s record books with this win. In his post-fight interview, he mentioned that he would like to fight Khamzat Chimaev next week.
