UFC 261- Tristan Connelly vs Patrick Sabatini: Prediction and Analysis

In the featherweight division at UFC 261, Patrick Sabatini takes on Tristan Connelly on the preliminary card. Sabatini is making his UFC debut and could not have asked for a better card to make his promotional debut. 

The 145-pound division is one of the most talent-stacked divisions in the UFC, and both men will be looking to make a name for themselves with a virtuoso performance on Saturday. 

Ahead of the fight we inspect both fighters and map out a potential route for victory for both men involved in the featherweight clash at UFC 261.

Can Patrick Sabatini secure a win on his UFC debut against Tristan Connelly at UFC 261?

Patrick Sabatini is currently riding a two-fight win streak. He is 4-1 in his last five fights and has secured stoppage wins in three of his four wins. He will be aiming to make a statement on his UFC debut.

Tristan Connelly, on the other hand, is riding a five-fight win streak at the moment. He made his UFC debut in September 2019 with a unanimous decision win over Michel Pereira and has not fought since. He will be aiming to not only extend his win streak but also secure his second win in the promotion. 

Boondock’ is extremely good on the ground and has secured an impressive 64% of his wins via submission. However, he does not lag behind in the striking department and has landed an impressive 4.27 significant strikes per minute in his UFC career, and absorbed just 2.13 in return.

Patrick is also extremely good on the ground and has secured 69% of his wins via submission. However, it will not be easy for Sabatini to get the fight to the ground as Connelly has a 60% takedown defense. But, if he does manage to get the fight to the ground, he should be at an advantage as he is the superior grappler.

On the flip side, if the fight stays on the feet, Connelly will have the advantage and will secure his second win in the UFC.
