The matchups have been coming in thick and fast in the UFC over the past few days. The card at UFC 262, recently got its main event as Michael Chandler will take on Charles Oliveira for the vacant lightweight title. On the same card, Jack Hermansson will take on up-and-coming Canadian fighter Edmen Shahbazyan.

The middleweight clash between the two men will be one of many extremely interesting fights on the card as it starts to take shape. Both ‘The Joker’ and ‘The Golden Boy’ will be looking to bounce back from recent losses.

Shahbazyan is currently ranked 12th at 185-pounds and Hermansson is ranked 6th. A win for either fighter could reward them with a significant jump in the rankings.

Edmen Shahbazyan vs Jack Hermansson will be an extremely interesting fight at middleweight

The 23-year-old Shahbazyan was billed as the next big thing from Canada. He made his debut on Dana White’s Contender Series in July 2018 with a win over Antonio Jones.

He then went on a four-fight win streak with three of the four wins coming via stoppage. However, ‘The Golden Boy’ suffered his first loss last August when divisional veteran Derek Brunson stopped him in round three. He will be aiming to get back into the win column against an extremely tough opponent in ‘The Joker’.

‘The Joker’ has not had the best run as of late. He is 1-2 in his last three fights with a win over Kelvin Gastelum, sandwiched in between losses to Jared Cannonier and Marvin Vettori. He will aim to get back into the win column against a relatively in-experienced fighter in ‘The Golden Boy’.

In his last fight, a veteran in Derek Brunson proved too much for him. This time he faces another extremely experienced fighter in Hermansson.

It will be extremely beneficial for his career if he is to get past ‘The Joker’. However, if he stumbles against another seasoned fighter, his UFC career might be in limbo.
