Aspen Ladd is one of the most exciting fighters in the women’s bantamweight division. The 25-year-old has been making her presence felt in the division ruled by Amanda Nunes. Ladd is an extremely dangerous fighter and has secured 67% of her 9 wins via T/KO.

However, injuries have forced her out of the game. She last fought in December 2019. Sporting injuries don’t get more serious than an ACL or MCL tear. Ladd suffered both, which has meant that she will be sidelined till early 2021. However, once Ladd returns she will be in contention for a title shot if she can maintain the level of performances MMA fans are used to seeing from her.

In a recent interview with Jimmy Smith, Ladd provided an update on her progress since her injury. She said, “I’m doing really well. I’ve been training actually, I’m back to boxing. Not sparring yet. I’ve just started getting into the faster twitch stuff. I can run, I just can not run far… I’m starting to get into the explosive movements.”

“I can walk around just fine, I’ve been hiking around. But certain sport-oriented movement like twisting grappling is the last thing I can do…. My whole life right now is focusing on re-strengthening the leg”

Ladd also mentioned that it is extremely tough to sit on the sidelines and watch her fellow bantamweight fighters get multiple fights in quick succession.

The American fighter made her debut in the UFC in October 2017, with a KO win over Lina Lansberg. She went onto win her next two fights against Sijara Eubanks and Tonya Evinger.
