UFC Featherweight Darren Elkins Reveals the Reason He Has “The Damage” Tattoo on His Chest

Darren Elkins secured an impressive win this weekend. The featherweight veteran was matched up against Darrick Minner on the main card at UFC Vegas 32, headlined by Dillashaw and Sandhagen. ‘The Damage’ went into the fight on the back of an impressive win over Luiz Garagorri in his last outing. Against Minner, Darren Elkins proved exactly why he is nicknamed ‘The Damage’.
In the post-fight interview, a reporter asked Elkins how he got his nickname and if the nickname inspired his style of fighting. He said, “Ahh, you know it is what it is. It’s not ironic. My coach that gave it back to me in Indiana his name is Keith. It was because even in practice if you flick me I was bleeding all over the place…..”

‘The Damage’ continued, “Most people don’t know this but…. I have delicate skin. My bone structure, I never get really hurt but my skin structure, you flick me, it’s like paper. I am bleeding everywhere. So that is why they call me the damage…. Yeah, I am going to give the damage but really you touch me and I’m bleeding.”

Elkins secured the ninth stoppage win of his career against Minner. ‘The Damage’ started out strong and built momentum as the fight went on. He eventually secured a finish in the second round of the fight, which he completely dominated from start to finish.
Over the course of the fight, Elkins landed an impressive 137 total strikes with an accuracy of 89%. He also landed 20 significant strikes with an accuracy of 67%. Darren Elkins’ win at UFC Vegas 32 was his 10th as an underdog in the UFC, breaking a tie with Neil Magny and Andrei Arlovski for the most since 2010.
